When all else has failed, the last line of defense in your arsenal to get rid of those nasty bugger is GMER

GMER is a rootkit revealer/remover that is able to scan deep within your OS for any changes that has been modified.

Personal info on it:
One of my friend's system was infected, all AV programs (MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, or whatever that's out there) will either not install or load.
HijackThis came with clean results and doing a Google search in IE or FF on AV programs will lead to a error saying "Google cannot load these web pages" and in some cases a link will get redirected to a ad site.

After running GMER and deleted the hidden rootkits, all AV programs started to work and the system was back up and running in no time.

Note: GMER does not work properly under 64bit.
Most of the important options are grayed out.

I've written a few useful diagnostics and system recovery tools, here they are...

protocol - Allows you to list, add and delete the URL protocols registered on your computer, such as http, ftp, mms, irc, itms, etc. This allows you to pass information to your applications via URLs in your web browsers. It's a command line utility and the usage is protocol [ list | add | delete ]

RCopy - Copies a file from an unreliable source. If the connection or device that hosts the file drops, the utility will alert you and wait for the file to become available again. The idea is that the application doesn't stop the drive from going down, but allows you to disconnect and reconnect it when it does, then continue the copy process. This works great for dying hard drives attached by USB cables, and the tool has been used many times by myself to recover files from drives with mechanical failure. Unfortunately this utility has no error handling for input, so it'll crash if you give it bad parameters. Usage is rcopy <input file> <output file> and paths with spaces must be enclosed in quotation marks.

Hash - Command line utility that can hash strings with MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA384, SHA512 and RIPEMD160. Copy to C:\Windows\System32 so that you can use it directly from the command line (cmd.exe). Type hash /? for usage information.

HDDErase

Developed by the Center of Magnetic Recording Research at UCSD and previously supported by the NIST, this utility erases your hd like no other out there.

Note: HDDErase does a "secure-erase" method and after its complete, no recovery software will be able to recover your data!
During operation, do not restart or power off your system, doing so will render your hard drive physically useless. If your doing this on a notebook make sure your AC adapter is plugged in first.

There's nothing wrong with Dban.

HDDErase meets with the US gov't standards so if any of you are working with a security firm one day in the responsibility of wiping out data. Use HDDErase if you won't want to land yourself in the "hot seat".

Although the best way is to just use a industrial shredder.

CCleaner Free

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! Smile
