According to the pic, looks like the Core i7 isn't their top of the line product.
The upcoming Core i9 has more L3 cache, runs on 6 cores (12 with HT enabled) and uses the same socket / chipset as the current Core i7 so upgrader be happy that you won't have to go out and get new parts.
As for our current Core series cpus, the charts looks like these guys will get a new name as a Core i3.

Crap, I just built my i7 Rig, and I'm always low on money...
Oh well, my i7 Rig was half price, at only $750 AUD...
Does AMD have anything to compete? Phenom 3?

Phentom II doesn't even compete with i7.
Its competing with core2 and not the higher intel classes. |
