hi, i have seen many people with speedtest.net sigs and i have noticed that there is a VERY BIG difference with their internet speed compared to mine

i pay 1,200 PHP ($24.8267) for my internet connection which is 384 kbps.

how much do you pay for your internet connection?
how fast is your internet speed?

im just curious...

my country have the lousiest internet in the world.
4MBps is the fastest.
btw... mine is 56KB modem and its 56K modem

im getting 1/2MB soon

EDIT : 56KB=RM66

1/2MB=RM100/150+

lol, my isp is the weakest

i keep on talking to them on the phone cause my internet always disconnect,
they told me they have higher priorities on those who are paying them more
money than the amount i pay them

ex. "A" pays for 2mbps, "B" pays for 4mbps, i pay for 384kbps

A, B and me have internet problems

they will fix the problems in this order:
1. "B"
2. "A"
3. me

if you pay them small amount of money they will just ignore your problems and say "we have higher priorities, we will call you back when we are done with the other customers"

in my country, 384kbps is very low cause internet shops here have 3.5mbps and other homes have like 3mbps. so that means i have the lowest priority. if my internet have an error how long will it take for them to fix it?

i think internet connections are better in the US
my internet connection is crap, i really want higher internet speed but i cant afford it cause im still a student

EDIT: is there a way to boost my internet speed?

I live in Plano, Texas, next to Dallas, Texas which has many main land lines for Internet connections and such, and it's in the center of the United States.
I have a package which includes Television, Phone, and Internet, but the Internet alone is 43,95 USD (2.124,40 PHP.)

Everything here is expensive in Canada.. cellular services, computers, computer parts, internet..
Regular price for my internet is 45, but you only pay 19.99 for your first six months, and I'm on my 5th.

I'm not exactly sure what I pay for the internet, nor am I sure of my bandwidth, but my speedtest results are:

20.98 download
3.66 upload

Edit: And according to comparing to worldwide results, I'm amazed. Global average for download is 5.38

can get faster.. but this is sort of average. i don't pay for mine, comes free with uni accommodation ( which sadly ran out now : [ )

from some servers like microsoft i can download stuff wayyy quick. downloaded directx SDK which is like 100mb in less than 10 seconds and from nvidia, got a driver package for my computer which was like 80mb in less than 5 secs. i think the fastest i had so far was downloading office sp2 or something which was 300mb and took less than 10 seconds somehow..
