|
|
What effects performance in games the most?
What has the bigger impact?
Which does most of the work? [ % Wise would be easier ]
A Processor?[CPU] Or a Graphics card [GPU]
I was told that the Graphics card does more of the work in games by a friend but he wasn't too clear. He told me the CPU only does 15% of the work in a game. But I just want to hear it from the professionals.
Like for example. Here are some exaggerated comparisons
A 900mhz cpu with Visiontek Radeon HD 3870 X2 [Or a EXPENSIVE graphics card of your choice]
Or a 6ghz cpu with onboard trash.
Could a 1ghz cpu, with lets say a 3000$ card play crysis on full? Or there is more to it than that
Any example on any modern games of today would be easier
-edit Ima go to sleep, so see yah Thanks In Advance. |

A good, multi-core CPU can make a huge difference, but modern titles are likely much more GPU bound. |

CPU is the driver in the car and the graphics card is the car. Think about it that way. _________________

You really need both. You would lag way too much with a 1ghz cpu and a tricked out gpu playing crysis. To maximize your gameplay its best to have a good cpu in conjunction with a good gpu as well. I'm not saying you need a $3000 card, but a good one like any of the new models in the 200series geforce would be good. |

Sorry but you all troll.. BS..
Aslong as you got a dualcore (intel) with atleast 2.8ghz
you can get killer videocard and get good preformance.
My awnser (and own expirance), a videocard is more important but
if you got a singelcore it prob lag anyway. |

well, not sure how big the cpu will be a bottleneck in the future.
With stuff like CUDA you could theoretically put the game itself on the graphics card leaving only the cpu for userinterface interations
(Won't take long before nvidia comes out with a graphics card with sound build in as well, and a harddisk..., and then just calls it a console inside a pc...) _________________
