I agree ,Q9550 is a better processor IMO.

The old AMD (dualcore) equals about 2.0gHz intel dualcore.
Which means it suck pritty much because their very hot and hard to overclock.
Q9550 isn't a smart purshase. It's to expensive to be worth it.
Take AMD Phenom II 920/940 instead (if you got a AMD motherboard).
Otherwise E8400 would be enought and you could overclock it abit.
