That is the question.
Anyways, my old accounting lab is closing down and selling everything. My friend recently called me and told me that they were selling all of their old computers.
2.66 GHz
504 MB of RAM
150 GB HD
For around 50-75 USD.
Good buy?

| A computer for $50 is still something. Because you can't actually get a computer new for $50. With those specs, assuming the processor is a P4, and the GPU is some low-end GeForce 4 or ATi 9000-series, you shouldn't expect very good performance in much anything beyond basic computing tasks. $50 for a low-end home server is still a pretty good deal nonetheless.

$50 is nothing for a Computer.

Okay, thanks guys. Seems like I'm getting 3 of them for $60 each.
Setting up 2 of them as servers and I'm going to build up on the last one. Firstly, get a better GFX card and a little bit more RAM. Also might try Timmah's Windows 7 idea as well.

I have an incredibly old laptop with a 1.2GHz pentium III CPU, a 16MB integrated graphics chip of some sort, a 40GB HDD and 512MB of DDR RAM stashed away in a closet somewhere and it runs XP SP3 just fine.
