|
|
Well sometime around this year I started getting green lines or boxes made up of lines on my screen. Usually it happened when my computer hadn't been turned off in a couple of days. I would just turn off my computer for a while and that would fix it. But now it's happening more frequently, so I'm thinking about buying a new graphics card. Any suggestions?

LCD Monitor. Also I have two monitors, and it happened on both. And the lines don't really have a pattern to them.

If you tried on two different monitors then it might be your graphics card
---OR---
Have you tried checking the ports @ the back on your computer? Are any pins damaged?
Did you use different cables?

To check if it's the monitor, PRNT SCRN and if that catches the green lines, it's a GPU problem otherwise it's the monitor.

Guys, I know it's my graphics card. I posted a thread about this a while ago, but it was a asking for a solution, which ended up just to turn off my computer for a while. And I'd rather just get a new graphics card. So once again, any suggestions for a new one?

From what I've seen, I'd stake my reputation on it being the monitor. Happens to a lot of people.
However, if you're set on buying a graphics card without further diagnosis, what price range are you looking to fall into?

I don't hate ATI. And price range doesn't matter, unless the price is absolutely outrageous.

Check your Driver's...
This may sound stupid but for a 1.5Years I haven't played any PC games on my computer due to driver issue, and yes I do get random coloured lines on my screen in-game aswell. Then I found a way to go bak to an older version of my drovers which work...
Vista:
1. Start
2. Search Device Manager
3. Click display adapter +
4. Right Click Graphics Card and select Update Driver Software.
5. Click Browse My Computer for Driver Software.
6. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
7. There should be a list of drivers with dates.
8. Choose 1 which didn't have any lines on them at the time.
9. If it works then it's a Driver problem and not Graphics..

Er, cost's "outrageous-ness" is objective...
what do you have right now, and really what's the range? 100-300?

artifacts, it's probably caused by overheating of your graphics card. check your comp temp & get back to us.

Why don't you post a screenshot of your desktop and make a bunch of people shut up?
