				| Is it essential for one to have a fan? I am planing on getting a external HD. By essential i mean, should i get one with a fan if i am planing on using it for 3hours a day.

				Nop, I currently have around 3External's running most of each day...
 
I don't know what you mean by fan, but they are standard Maxtor and Western Digital drives...

The HD will mostly be used for watching movies through my xbox360. So it have to survive min of 3hours a day without going crazy and collapse.

I prefer WD...
 
 
Also you can connect your Xbox 360 to your computer a couple of ways...
 
 
1)Media Centre
 
2)Media Player Extender
