Control Panel -> System -> (Tab) ComputerName Ain't sure if it's quite like that for Vista. . But that's the XP ..

Try changing directly from registry. The key is:

Erm how i get there?

Start > Run > type in "regedit" and press enter.
Then navigate to that location
Right click your computer name
Modify
Change the computer name
Press ok.
Restart?
