My best computer recently 'died'. When I try to turn it on, I hear a little 'bzzt'. If I replaced the power supply, would it work? Also, how can I determine if two power supplies are different?

If you don't know what happened, just leave it in to a comp store and let them check it for you, there are plenty of reasons as to why this might happen, and you'd have to troubleshoot them all.

It sounds like something is shorted out, and the protection in the PSU is causing it to immediately shut back off. The PSU may still be good, if you can find out where the short is and fix it, assuming that's the problem.

But I agree with Safko, it'd be easier to just take it to a repair place.

Could be the ram, or the PSU.
Thats what I think atleast.

You can indeed replace it to fix it.
But it MUST be compatible with your motherboard.
I would recommend getting the same exact kind.
