My Hp Pavillion Dv6000 seems to be having problems with the screen. Whenever I turn it on, its all distorted and checkered. Even If I do make it on the desktop it freezes later on, in about 5 seconds.

Sounds a bit like the GPU is making errors, less that the screen is broken or misconfigured. Does it crash just going into BIOS or a live OS (not your regular HDD OS install)?

no it doesn't, the screen keeps rolling with colors and sometimes, i am able to get on the desktop but then it freezes.

Have you tried using an external monitor?

I've seen several things that may happen with that laptop model.
It's like prone to misfortunes.

An external moniter does work, is there a way to fix my problem on the external moniter?

I use a dv6000, and mine's fucking annoying, it always has some error with driver gfx or something while I'm gaming.

Do you run Nvidia?
8600 or 8400, M?

Because then you'd have a bad chip/driver.
