QUESTION ANSWERED REQUEST LOCK
This sounds very very stupid but here goes:
Is it ok to delete Temporary Internet Files?
My dad keeps deleting them, lol, my internet files take up 2+ GB. Well, they keep coming back anyway, so I always thought they were pointless to delete.
Very very stupid, no?

The browser save all client sided stuff (scripts, images, swfs and more) so that it doesn't have to download them every time you visit the site.
It's perfectly normal and harmless to truncate the folder at sometimes, infact the browser itself would delete them after a specific amount of time.

Deleting Internet Temporary files is useless and will use up more bandwith for you (and slow down pages)
This is because if you have Temp Files your websites usually loads off your temporary files to make it load much faster (if you opened the webpage before)
So if you clear it, you're basically downloading the temp files all over again wasting your time (if it's slow) and bandwith
But you barely notice a difference if you clear the,

Hmm, I see. So, it's pointless to delete Temporary Internet Files because it really just keeps coming back, huh?

That is correct.
If you don't have limited disk space there is no need to clear it really.
When you request a site from a server, it gives you a list of files that is needed to build the site up. Then the browser tells the server which ones it needs (it could miss some or they might be old) and then the server sends the files to the browser. And the browser can rebuild the site. Easy as that.

No, its smart to clear the tempfiles, one thing is that it may contain spyware
and so on, because many sites gives that.
And it will fix up your space alittle.'
Whatever if you have to download little little files once again.

As I said the browser removes the files after a while. You can setup how often it clears the folder in the settings menu. And if you get spyware that way that your antivirus doesn't detect then you could be screwed whenever you clear it or not. End of story now lock thread please.

It's good to delete temporary files once in a while. While it's true that caching can speed up browsing, for most people bandwidth isn't an issue anymore, and keeping an index and finding the files on the hard drive can be slower if the temp folder gets too big.
