Well with the computer i built, i have focused on getting the radeon 4870 1GB GPU for my computer, but now since ATI released those price cuts on the 512MB 4870, i wanna know if i should get the 512mb or the 1gb and the reason im asking is cause i want it to be as cheap as possible, and yes this is a gaming computer, the games i will mostly be playing are:Perfect World, Savage, Halo games, Mirror's Edge, Spore, Simcity 4, Simcity Societies, Age of Empires III, Warhammer 40,000, COD4,CODWAW, Maybe ill play crysis and crysis warhead until i beat the campaign, Gears Of War, Half Life 2,Half Life 3(when its out),Oblivion,Fallout 3,GTA4,FarCry 2, Stalker, Just Cause or Just Casue 2(i havent played number 2 so i cant tell which is better)

Also, i will play Oblivion, Spore, and Mirror's Edge the most. And yes my proccesor is good enough to support the 4870(my proccessor is the phenom II X4 940.

if you dont have a massive monitor you dont need the 1GB, if you got like a 20> inch ur fine

GTA IV is a real video memory sucker. Even when you're running with the -availablevidmem command line trick, the overall performance of the game worsens over time. So I think it's worth it to get the 1GB model if you want to play the game at max settings-except for the view distance.

i have a 22 inch moniter, but i keep the resoulution at 1024 x 758, also i dont care about the view distance on GTA4 and as long as it plays, at high without lag, its okay

1024x758 is a waste. 1440x900 is at least in ratio to the monitor's recommended resolution.
Anyway, get a 512MB 4870. You don't need the extra memory.

Some of those games need alot of ram.

Be safe and get the 1gig

shuld i get the toxic edition of the sapphire 4870? its faster than the regualr 4870 1gb card and its cheaper.
