I was playing a game one night and it was incrediby laggy. I stopped playing shut down and went to sleep. When I woke up my computer was f-ed up.
It would start norMally. Toshiba screen with boot options would show then it would start the windows "loading" thing with with bar goig through the thing.
Then the screen would go greyish-blAck and my cursor would be in the middle of the screen. I couldn't move the cursor and nothing would work/happen.
It is a laptop, my only computer and I'm typing this on my ipod touch.
Help me.

Not sure but your comp might be low on physical memory. Or its a virus.
Try deleting some useless stuff and run the anti virus scan. |

Memory != HDD space.
OP: First, if you have a vista disk, try a repair install of windows. If that doesn't work you could try booting from a linux distro disc or something and manually un-doing what you did before. If all else fails, reformat. _________________

I believe he was actually talking about memory (RAM), although it's far more likely to be a virus or something.
I say try booting from some live Linux distro and recover your files.
Reformatting requires no diagnosis. |

I have all my files backed up. I might just reformat.
Any info on how to do that? _________________

Yeah, it's pretty intuitive. Format the partition Windows is on now, and the rest should go without much of a hitch.
You're going to need to get the drivers for the computer one way or another. You can boot to a live OS and download them if your LAN driver isn't installed automatically.
If you've got questions, we'll match them with answers. |
