if i got a new harddrive would i be able to just stick on in or plug in a external on and go from that or am i gonna have to transfer all my files over? or would things just flow over to that when one is full?

so you asked two questions.
- Will data magically flow from one hard drive to another? No.
- Do I need to transfer files from an old hard drive to a new one? Yes.

Yes depending on what harddrive you buy but probebly.
But you need an computer to connect the both harddrives.

icbumhole wrote: | so if i got a external hard drive could i just use that as my harddrive and stop using the one in my computer? | its not recommended to have external things as ure main hardware like cd/dvd drives and HDD's becuase since they are outside of the computer, they are more prone to dust, damage, water spills, random accidents, and they can also be misplaced easily, as opposed to an internal HDD that stays in the computer at all times unless being changed or inspected.

slower speeds.
transferring all would take time, depends on how many files, and how fast it is.
Usually I don't recommend it.

Well, speeds don't necessarily have to be slower, but countrycone is probably right about the accident factor.
