When I start my laptop, it goes but nothing on the screen shows up and after
a couple of seconds it turns off and back on again. This continues until I push
the button to turn it off.

What makes you think it's the monitor?
So are you saying it turn's on but it stays black for a couple of seconds and restarts, in an end-less loop?

This happened to my TV this may help but the panel chip might of warn out and caused problems with the screen.
