I made this build for a friend. He has a budget of $3000 (I guess he isn't hit by the recession). He does video editing (HD video) and wants to play all games maxed out at 1920x1080 for the next 4 years. Here's the build:
Code:

i7 920 (I will OC for him)
12GB of DDR3-1866 RAM
GTX 295
3x1TB WD Black (in RAID 0)

He doesn't have a PC at home now, so he needs a monitor and other peripherals. How is this build?

Rather lame keyboard/mouse, imo.

Although that's insignificant Smile

This is what I would go for

-Core i7 920
-Asus P6T Deluxe
-2x Seagate Cheetah SAS 15.6K 146GB in RAID 0
-1x WD Black 640 GB for storage
-HD 4870 X2 or GTX 295+
-Antec 850
-Acer 24" at 1920x1200

Every other thing not listed will be from your list.

Why? They're the same resolution (1920x1080).

Maybe because their 2" larger?

The ram is overkill, not the size but the speed.
You would never need that speed.

Take either 1x of these:

or 2x of these (better):

Get a Razer Mamba and a Razer Lycosa instead of the keyboard and mouse you chose Wink
