3 questions
1st one. do you need an internet adapter to surf online
2nd. do all computers come with an internet adapter
3rd(this is the current problem) My main computer is connected with an ethernet cord to my 2wire box and it can surf the web, play games, download ect. I bought a new computer and just stuck in a second ethernet wire to the 2wire box to the new computer. I am able to surf the web but when I use programs that need internet access, it says I don't have any. Ex. itunes store, and downloaded games. ALso under the internet adapter tab in device manager, it lists my ethernet cord name but on my main computer, it lists intel adapter. Anyone know what's going on?

1. Yes
2. Most do with the motherboard already built in almost all do.
3. I dont get what your saying on the third one.. but you need a router if you want to use the same line to surf the internet if you want to split it into another computer

The Intel adapter could very well be the adapter to use the internet with. If you can browse the Internet through a browser, and can't access it through a program like iTunes, it could be that you have to forward a port through your router. Tell us what router (You refer to it as a "wire box") you have, and the model.
Wait for somebody with more intelligence/knowedge on computers than me to post.
(Like Karakawe xD)

My 2wire box is this http://home.singtel.com/upload_hub/consumer/2wire-1800hg.jpg. I have 2 ethernet cables connected to the back of that and 1 to each of my computer. On the new computer that has the internet problem, on device manager the network adapter listed is just my Ethernet cord instead of listing intel ect. I think my problem is that I need to download the driver but I don’t know what it’s called.

That's simple enough (if it's the driver bit). What model is the computer? If you didn't buy it from an OEM (Dell, HP, etc.), what's the model of its motherboard?

This looks like it (direct download if you don't mind). If you're running Vista x64 (64-bit), use this instead.

Here's the page before. If linking to the site doesn't work, I'll just put it up on Mediafire or something for you.
Anyway, it's at compaq.com, click on Support, and you can type in the model on the left (ticking Software/drivers).

Thanks a lot. I downloaded and installed it and it restarted my computer but when i rebooted and check the network adapters tab of device manager, it still lists the ethernet cable instead of the intel network card thing. hmm?

Right, Vista.
Go to Control Panel (Classic View on left), and click Network and Sharing Center. On the left: "Manage Network Connections".
What's it look like in there?
