| Yea ive decided to buy a quad core intel proccesor now i just need to know, what is the cheapest quadcore proccessor that gives the best performance?(BTW i WILL NOT overclock)

For a little bit more you could get a AMD Quad. The new Phenom II i checked they bench marks and some are higher then the I7. But i don't know about you scine your going with Intel

ok look at the price for a i7 and look for the phenom II and check the bench marks.

What the hell are you talking about?
Read it. Its pretty extensive.

AMD's best [Phenom II X4 940] can't, or in some cases barely, even beat a lower clocked 2CQ Q9400. How the fuck is it better than Core i7 when it can't even beat Penryn?
i7 RAPES Deneb.
AMD is still a generation behind. Intel will drop prices to make sure it maintains rape.
Also, Deneb can utilize DDR3.

Are there good benchmarks for practical programs (not games)?
But you guys are bashing Phenom IIs a little too much in my opinion. AM3 isn't even out yet.

Read the damn article.
Duely noted: Dragon platform has something that makes it run with certain games better than the lowest core i7 [920] like F.E.A.R VS. Crysis.
@Above:
AMD is still playing catchup here. I expected more, tbh.
Phenom II 940 can't beat a 2CQ Q9400 in some cases? Come on. Not to mention the Q9450, which is a little more for double the cache.
