It's a pre-built.

I meant to put this in Comp. Talk section. Can a mod please move this?

Considering that this includes a monitor and an operating system, this is a fairly decent price for those who don't want to bother making their own (especially since the Canadian dollar tends to not go as far on Newegg or TigerDirect).

What happened to the mobo, PSU, thermal grease, cpu fan, etc?

CPU: $146
RAM: Who the hell uses 3GB? $40 at most.
HDD: You know damn well they're going to use the cheapest shit available. $100 at most.
DVD burner: $25
GPU: $150. If I were to build a new computer with a budget like that, there's no way I'd get a 9800GT.
OS: Free. Wink
Network card: Why did they even bother including this in the specs? Unless you're stupid when buying a PC and think some overpriced network card will magically make your interweb speed over 9000x faster, you're going to be using the ethernet port integrated into your mobo.
Monitor: Contrary to popular belief, there's a lot more to monitors than just type (LCD/CRT/etc) and size. Since they're probably selling the cheapest monitor imaginable, there's no way it'll cost more than $150.
Case/PSU: Probably some el-cheapo PSU capable of no more than 400W with one 15 amp +12v rail. Case is probably total junk. $50 at most.
Mobo: $65, if even.

You're going to be paying somewhere in the area of a $250 premium for the whole system, not to mention the inability to overclock. I would build my own.

Before anyone acts like an idiot, these estimates were based off prices from newegg.ca.

$1000 and a 9800 GT? With $1000, I would get a 4850X2 or a GTX 260 Core 216.

I would build my own. Building it yourself gives the best price/performance.

Alienwares are overrated to people who know their way around computer components.
