GIGABYTE, geforce 8500gt 512mb, (NX8T)(Nvida)

my normal clock speed is 594mhz for the core and 400mhz for the memory,
but each time i run ATiTool it says the max core is 418.80mhz and the max memory is 86.8mhz, but when i set the clock speed to that my pc crashes.

pc specs:
intel celeron 3.06ghz
ram: 1gb
OS: windows Xp sp3

You have to do that manually (raise speed, test, raise speed, and so forth).

If your graphics card has a factory-overclocked model, using that as a base is usually a good idea. Then you can test by running a game or benchmark, and overclock some more, until you reach your max core, RAM and shader speeds. It's usually a good idea to drop back the max OC by a few megahertz, and set a different speed set of OC speeds for times where you're not gaming.
