|

Well... I have MANY MANY movies i want to burn onto DVDs... and the process is lengthy ( convert to AVI, render the main menu, burn to disc )... It takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
So i wanted to speed up the process by purchasing multiple DVD burners.
Does anyone have a suggestion on a DVD-burner?

Getting 2 DVD burners will not help you speed up your process unless the program you run will let you do two different jobs at once.
As for DVD burners they're all about the same, so just go with the one you like.
Btw, speed is not the thing here. 8x at most if you want good quality results.

Yeah, but there is also the possibility of opening... two programs at once! hehe...
Also, i don't ever go over 4x. Quality lose (to me) is not worth the time gained.
I'll search for one on newegg... I always wondered. Can DVD-ROMs burn DVDs?

That usually just means it can read DVDs, unless it's a burner with support for DVD-ROMs (less likely unless labeled as a burner).

I burned at 4x once and the quality was worst than 8x. :\
Guess it has to do with something like HD is sending data too fast for the DVD writer to catch up?

while the data is digital, the burning method is not.
this is why flaws can be introduced, the type of disc used can also play a role. Some discs are designed for high speed burning, and low speeds can yield weirdness.

Getting 2 DVD drives will not help you unless your getting 2 for 2 seperate computers because you will not be able to run both burners at the same time your PC will either not run the other burner or you will come across error in the movie files it get's complicated you better off with a FAST DVD burner =]

As stated earlier, speed can influence quality. >_>

To test this theory you stated with no proof backing it up...
I will remove one DVD burner from another computer in my household and attempt to burn two DVDs at the same time.
I see no reason that they cannot burn two DVDs at different times...

I thought i heard something about that also?
I know my program wont allow it ( 1 program -> 4 drives )... but if i do ( 4 programs -> 1 drive per program ), i'd bet it would work.
All different movies of course... probably...

lol well then you shouldn't have too much trouble, compared to a 1.86ghz single core here. xD

Nero Ultra Edition and above allows 1 project to be burned onto multiple recorders at the same time.
You need to enable multiple recording support and when you click burn select the drives you want to use.
Just took a look at the Nero installed and it looks like you can open up multiple projects at the same time.
