So today I went to BestBuy and bought 2 RAM chips for my Toshiba Satellite A100 notebook.
I switched my old crappy chips with the new ones (each 1 gig) so I would have 2 GB's RAM (thats' the max RAM my laptop can have)
i turned on my laptop and vista wouldn't start. so this time I only put in 1 of the 1 gig chips so I would have 1.5G RAM and it did work. Is it something wrong with my laptop? I tested both of the new chips on a different laptop and they worked fine.

does it show up as 1.5gb when you have the old and a new in, or just 512mb?

plug old in.
if it works, then plug one new in.
if it works, then plug other new in.
repeat to isolate which stick doesn't work.
but first of all, confirm that ram is issue and not laptop by sticking in old ram

Find a boot-utility (lots of live Linux distros have them) for memory-checking. Or is the memory not recognized at all by BIOS? Are there any BIOS errors or messages?
