It's a waste of money in my opinion... All it is, is that it allows more RAM to be recognized and it has some preinstalled programs that you might just disable.

I'm using it right now with 8 gig ram and I don't have a problem with it.
But then again I haven't really used any other version. Yes is x64.

lol I got one positive and one negative... I mean i have xp and stuff, but unfortunately for me i had vista right when it came out for my new pc and it sucked... I figured most people hate vista don't know how to use computers, but then again computers aren't supposed to be hard to use..

I like it, though if I was to actually buy vista (lol) I'd use home premium or business.

Vista Ultimate is terribly overpriced for what you get...
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/compare-editions/default.aspx
Get Home Premium OEM from a website for like 100 some dollars.
Everything in Vista Ultimate you can get something equal for free.
That's if your even going to use all those useless tools Vista ultimate gives you
For a price/performance ratio... Home Premium > Ultimate

I don't mind Vista much now, but the main reason I got it is because its 64-bit version falls into support with a number of Microsoft releases (XP x64 does not for many), and for DirectX capability --I know there's a crack but meh.

You're right, but it seems everyone here is into pirating stuffs. In my opinion, the whole "editions" thing is overkill. I don't think anything better of Microsoft for doing that.

People went with Ultimate is because they want all the feature of Home Premium plus the additional features from the business segment like
-Shadow Copy
-Faxing and Scan
-Complete PC backup
-Dual processor support
Complete PC backup is not available for Home Premium Users

And because people feel that if they're going to pirate, they might as well pirate the most complete edition of the newest operating system.

I'd have to agree with localhost, the added features you get with Ultimate do not outweigh it's hefty pricetag.
Although, there are some features in Ultimate that I could not live without, like shadowcopy, dual CPU support, added RAM support, and PC backup feature.
However I got my copy of Vista as a birthday present from a friend, so I wasn't all too worried about pricing. However, if I would have had to have bought it, I probably wouldn't have spent that much money, because it is just not worth it to me.

You have two processors?
Also, in Home Premium the max RAM you can have is much higher than most motherboards support. Ultimate is 128gb if i recall correctly.
You can easily download a PC backup feature... There are many free ones out there.
