Whats wrong with the computer you say? The fact that it's prebuilt. Build one yourself, it's easy as pie.
Edit: rofl, there's a new rule because of this post.

Its BIOS, as with most OEM computers, is probably locked down.
It's also, as creative1 stated, quite easy to put your own build to life, and I recommend you do so if you're looking for experience in the field or a quick little project to be excited about for the time you wait for the parts.
Sense of achievement wut.

i agree with you. not everyone wants to overclock and not everyone has the time to build a computer and wait for parts. it should be classified as off-topic, these smart-ass replies.

Not to mention, it's not just building it, it's also troubleshooting it and maintaining it yourself. Not everyone knows how to do repairs, and to a lot of people it's worth the extra few bucks to have the peace of mind of having a warranty and tech support. If you build it yourself and it breaks, you're on your own.

I'd love to build my own computer but I doubt for 500-600 bucks i can get 4gb+ a 256mb+gpu and a quadcore. If I am HORRIBLY wrong please point me into the right direction in building my own computer because I am horribly inexperienced in doing so.

Actually, I'm pretty sure you can. I built mine from the exact same things, only it's a dual core, and it cost me $450-ish.
My build:
Mobo: EVGA nForce 650i
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2Ghz
Memory: 4 Crucial Ballistix 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz
HD: WD Caviar 160GB
Graphics: Geforce 8400 GS
This build was more than six months ago so I'm sure you could do one like you want. I had to cut some corners though. Switch the dual for a quad and you have a comp that costs about $450-ish, and since your budget is 500-600, you wouldn't need to cut corners like I did. I'm not particularly good with recommendations, so someone else will have to help you switch things out.
EDIT: Threw together a quick one for $475 tell me if you want to see it. It includes mobo (680i), ram(2x 2gb), cpu (quad-core q6600), hd (250gb), psu and case.

Sorry about that comment, It wasn't meant to be a "smart-ass" one. It was just my way of saying it's better to build one (IMO).

First of all to people that say AMD sucks you cant say shit like that because none of you tried AMD phenom overclocked to 3.2 and running AMD Fusion. And about that computer, you can play most games on it maybe not crysis but you can do a lot with it trust me. If your not a hard core gamer buy it... REMEMBER THAT ITS BEEN FIXED BEFORE!

Really?! Well then my Celeron dual core underclock to 500MHz will smoke the asses out of your overclocked Phenom.
Seriously just shut the hell up cause you have no idea what your talking about and because the likes of you, you make a person who knows about computers lives more difficult cause now we have to correct all the others, due to your stupid nonsense that others believes in.
To the OP, Intel procesor as of now is the best, go with a Intel based PC.
If it was 3 years ago, I'll say AMD, but for now it's Intel.
