Okay well my friend plans to get a new pc and is wondering hwo to transfer everything without the use of a usb or website upload

Can he get a usb transfer wire?

Ideas? Suggestions?

just transfer all the hard disk (( hardware ))
disconnect it from thr pc and then put it on the other PC as a slave

Use a rewritable CD/Floppy Disk.

home network. transfer files that way. this could take a little bit of time, depending on what he needs to transfer, but in the end you'll have all the files transferred without the use of external hardware.

also , if he is buying a new PC he can put them both in a home network and transfer the data by it, I do that with my PC and my laptop when I'm lazy and want to watch anime laying in my bed

The way I would do it is just pull the old hard drive and pop it into the new machine, and transfer it that way. That will give you the fastest transfers and least amount of dicking around.

Via a home network is also a good choice, though it takes a lot more configuration and is a decent amount slower unless both computers and the router are gigabit.

If you don't have much data, a recordable DVD may be your best option. It won't require changing any hardware or any configuration changes, but it will also be slower and is very limited on space (4.35GB for single layer, 8.5GB for dual if my memory serves me correctly.)

You could also just get a firewire cable and transfer them that way, provided both computers have firewire(unlikely.) I've never tried this method however. I know they do make USB A-A transfer cables for doing this, but it's a proprietary cable and there's no reason to spend money if one of the other methods works.

Windows XP and Vista have this thing to transfer files from your old computer to your new one do that. Thats what i did it transferred everything wirelessly. The thing is called Windows Easy Transfer

use TightVNC to remotely control the other computer, and just drag the documents you want into the other computer Wink

it depends how fast the hard drive is and how fast your wireless connection is, you can also do a LAN transfer which will give you 10GB/sec(if you have the latest card) I transferred through my router at 6GB/sec i did like 50GB took only a few secs
