Hey I am new at this. Have no clue what I am doing. I was going to go through all of the tutorials but I cannot even get the installer to run. I keep coming up when an Access violation at address 004096da. Write off address 004096da. Anyone have any clue what I should do next?

You get "Access violation at : xxxx" when you start the installer of the programm or when runing it ?!? Just try re-downloading CE from the official site and try installing again, give some kmore info about your PC mostly OS ver. and build SP1/SP2 , other installed soft that can interfere with installation / but it really seems like corrupted file /

I do not have any games running when I tried to install it. I am trying to run this on a Dell w/ pentium III processor. It is a little older computer but I have not had any trouble with any other programs. I have 512 mb ram and am running XP Sp2. I also did redownload and tried to run agian. Still the same results.

The installer breaks or CE breaks ?!?
Start OS in Safe Mode and try again , just to be sure that some stupid driver or soft does not break memory - not likely but worth trying ...
