I need help picking out a mother board and a CPU (Quad core, Intel)

These are the components for the computer I have so far. The budget is $1,800 and not a cent over. Not including tax or shipping cost.

HD: $265 * 2 = $530

Power Supply: $110

Cooler for Graphics: $35 * 2= $70

Graphics: $150 * 2= $300

CD Drive: $22 * 2= $44
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106228

Ram: $50 * 2= $100
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227269

Tower: $105
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021

CPU cooler: $50
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835154001

CPU: $260
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115043

Mother Board: $135
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131232
^(Winning so far)

So far I am at $1310. That leaves roughly 500 dollars.

Mother Board?
Cpu?
Sound card?

Possible motherboard?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138118
And I am also open to other suggestions as far as the tower goes. Needs to be BIG and LOTS of circulation and look awesome.

So please suggest to me a good CPU *Quad core* and a good motherboard with awesome overclocking settings. And if possible, a sound card. And the reason why you chose to suggest that one to me.

So far:

600 Gigabites in Raid (0) mode running at 10,000RPM each
750 Watts Of power
8 Gigs of RAM (Sli)
8800GTS (2) in Sli

This OEM Q6600 is availiable for a combo deal with your power supply. You'll be voiding it while OCing, so I'm sure it doesn't matter. Warrenty, that is,

I suggest a change to your GPU. Check it.

I like this motherboard.

I reccomend heatsinks that are like this Tuniq Tower 120. Make sure your case has room.

Cheetah reccomends this VGA Cooler alot, might want to take a look at it.

I like the antec 900 for air cooling.

Okay, quick questions.

Why did you recommend that graphics card?
I don't know too much about graphics card. Although they both seem about the same. But I'd rather have the one I chose.

As far as the CPU goes, I'm only saving 30 dollars with the combo deal. Its not a bad CPU, but its not good either. I want one that has 6MB Cache. Not 4. So can you please recommend me one?

GPU:
800 Streaming processors compared to 128.
Higher Memory clock. ATi HD 4850/4870 are THE GPUs to get right now. AFAMKIC, I know nothing of architectures. I just compare numbers.

Also, CPU is 2x4MB L2Cache. 6MB ones are only 1x6MB. Again, I don't know much about architecture and how shit really works. I only compare numbers.

I was reading Toms Hardware and I read that 6MB cache is better than four. I forgot what it actually said, but that definitely is the case. So mind helping me out Blank?

Also, does my motherboard (The one you chose) support Crossfire? You know, for the video cards.

Yes. It states 1800+ on the specs, so I figured.

just a quick question, why the fuck spend so much on the HDD?
if i were you and you insist on having a raptor i would put the OS and things you will use alot on the raptor and buy a regular 7200rpm hdd for the rest

Why do I insist?

Because I've always wanted one. Not to mention that I want to put it in raid (0) mode.

And honestly, can you say "Hey, I have TWO (a) Raptors in Raid mode!". I think not. Yes, it is also about bragging rights.
