Well, with Ubuntu (if I'm dual booting) I have to shutdown and restart from Windows (I can't just hit the shutdown or restart button on my computer) otherwise Ubuntu can't read the files and I have to reinstall it. My question is, sometimes my computer will freeze because of me testing things, and I have to hit the restart button. Is there anyway to make it so that in those situations Ubuntu will still be able to read the files? And do all Linux Distros do this if you're dual booting?

Thanks I will ask on Ubuntu forums. But what happens is that if i hit the restart or shutdown button on my computer (not in Windows) when I try to boot into Ubuntu it loads the Bash shell.
