an ATi 4800 series would be a much better buy than that though IMO

The 8800Ultra got a short attention span that I guess even everyone including Newegg has forgot about it.

Yes well, 4800 series are usually compared to the 9 series of GeForce..
And I really regret buying a GeForce 9 series GPU..
with the same amount of cash I could have
bought a 4850/4870 which are way better.

Makes me glad I just finished purchasing two ATI HD 4850s for crossfire.

Them in crossfire isn't too great, the min fps is much lower than say when the x2 card comes out in September.
Although I'm sure it'll be fine at something like 1680x1050.

The difference from crossfire and both cores being on the same PCB is close to zilch in most cases it would seem.
1680x1050? Surely you must be joking.
I'd imagine 2560x1600 to be playable in most cases with crossfired 4850's. Probably be more bandwidth limited than anything, but the horsepower is there.

Crossfire = waste of money. You get up to 50% increased performance. With 2 ATI 4870s, you can get 1 Nvidia GTX280.

And so is SLI, both solutions are a waste of money where some of us idiots are willing to give our hard earn money to these fat blokes that likes to run naked while carry large bags of money.
