See all you need really to reformat is the original cd that came with your computer or another OS. If your computer can still turn on and your CD or OS is less then one gig, which I highly doubt unless you squeeze that thing together, it can work. But reformating won't fix your CD-drive because that's a hardware problem. If something is stuck inside, open your case up and remove it, if it's fried or something, if you are computer savvy, replace it with another drive, or send it off to repair.

Theres a hole on the front, insert something there and it will pop up.

Can you even get as far as turning it on at safe mode? When it boots up press liek f8 or something and run it in safe mode. Because if the computer can't stay long enough to run from your flash drive, it can not reformat.

If his CD-drive is broken like I think it is, that won't work. Even if you physically open it, how will you put it back in? Pushing it in won't work. And if safe mode doesn't work, it's pretty much screwed dude. Take it to Best Buy or something, they might try to recover your hard drive by taking it out and putting all your files in a temp computer.

There is a way. Do you have a 1GB flash drive? Get another computer, download a copy of Windows XP. Extract all the files to the root of the flash drive, make sure your flash drive has enough space (700 MB). Go to the BIOS and enable boot from USB. Plug the flash drive in and restart. Now, reinstall Windows.
