Making your computer faster!

1. Do not store large files on your desktop! Use shortcuts instead.

2. Do not download useless things! Random things like 5 MB files will clog up your computer.

3. Go to your Add and Remove Programs directory through the Control Panel! Sort items by size. Delete uneeded large files.

4. Empty your recycle been every once and a while! It does make your desktop load slower!

5. Clear private data from your internet browser every 3 days! In Firefox this is done by going to Tools > Clear Private data. Believe it or not, your internet loads slower.

Only useful thing is Common tasks in folders, The rest hog resources.

Remove the game/batch file one, That has no effect on game performance.

For me, the internet connecting to the Game and Back Is alot faster. Etc. MapleStory's Beginning "Start Screen" Loads alot faster, but I guess it doesn't help gameplay. Thanks Very Happy

Also if you can make not so many programs run at startup it kills memory (especially since my comp only has 512MB Sad)

Oh btw I did alot of those things and it was fast for about a week and now its back to the slow, usual laggy computer D:

Disable services that you don't need.
e.g. If you got a stand alone system and nothing else then you can disable the "server" service.

For XP: Make your system shutdown faster
e.g. You're shutting down your computer, but it takes a long time because some program in the background is still running and a windows pops up with the "end task" button.

Click start>run and type in regedit
In the registry navigagte to HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Control Panel>Desktop.
In the specified registry keys change to the following:

AutoEndTask: Change from 0 to a 1.
HungAppTimeout: Change from 5000 to 200.
MenuShowDelay: Change from 400 to a 5
WaitToKillTimeOut: Change from 20000 to 1000

For user with Vista SP1 take a look at this guide to see which services you don't need.

BlackViper's Vista service guide

Use Windows Defender to disable any start up programs that you don't need instead of using msconfig. If you have User Account Enabled, make sure to click on the "Show for all User" button before adjusting your startup list.
