somebody pm and SF ask about. ill explain it. everytime you type in the url address bar it will change into an ip address under your nose. during the process pc will go ask a dns server what the ip address you just type is. but before they do that pc will go to the hosts file to check are there the address and ip address if they dont have it then it will go check with the dns server. long ago they dont have like youtube.com , yahoo.com, and cheatengine.org all they have is ip address, which one do you thing is easier to remember the 4-12 number ip or the url? reason they show error page in the web browser is because you pc is not hosting any site. 127.0.0.1 is a localhost since you not hosting any site of course it will show error.this can also help speed your pc when you surfing site because your pc dont have to go ask dns server for the ip and you dont have to wait the dns to reply. if you want to find the ip address of a site just ping it then add to the host file with the url. it the same type the ip address to the url bar or the url address youtube ip address is 208.65.153.238, you can try it yourself it will go to youtube home page. youtube.com is way easier to remember than those ip address, think about it everyday you have to remember all those site ip address you want to go back!

If you are hosting a site it doesn't work, anyway to get it working if your hosting a site?

If you want to block the site, acess your router, then there should be a thing that blocked sites, add the site, press add, then it should say when you load the site, *this site has been blocked by ________ firewall. I really dont know if this option is in every router, its in mine, im running a netgear router, so if you have a netgear router, then your set.

I use Blue Coat K9 Web Protection, on there website it lets you have a free code for one use. I added the websites I wanted blocked just to tick off family, And this can just be under the block list, Just say, if she asks when it barks and comes up, it's protecting from viruses, etc. lol It works.
