Hey guyz
I bought a PC a year ago and on the side of the case I have a Vista Home Premium CD Key.
The first time I turned my computer on I backed up window's vista on 2 DVD's.
I can boot off the disk but I don't have any options.
Everytime i re-format,i need to open my PC and disconect 2 HDD's...
So my question is, can i borow my friends legal vista home premium cd (not upgrade) and use my cd key.

Nope won't work. Every Vista has it's own key

I think you'll be able to install Vista, but it'll nag you to check if your copy is genuine or tell you your CD-key has been used (software based validation, I guess).

Umm I wouldn't be surprised if you and the other person were cause Vista is so buggy and it naggs you like shit to update and you have no choice cause you want it to be less buggy...it's just annoying and it's not compatible with a lot of software that a lot of us need.

Yes it should work. It might make you call them but yeah it should work.
And I like vista, I'm just too poor to buy it.

Making use of your RAM != RAM hogger.
Just download the trial version of Server 2008 from Microsoft. It's pretty much Vista but better, and only needs a few changes to be used as a desktop OS. It's a 10 month trial, once it runs out it will nag you about activation but just reinstall then.

Thanks guyz but I'm getting mixed answers, 1 says no it ain gonna work, 1 says its gonn work but I have to call, and one says it aint gonna work.
