Hey Guys,

ok, straight to the point,
A friend of mine got a virus or something stupid on their Dell Pc.
the virus stops them from entering Windows & causes BSOD.

Being the computer knowing guy around, I said id have a look.

I want to format the Computer without having to use any CDs & such, this had happened to my own computer before & the Dell people (from a beach in India) told me to press something like Alt + F12, but I cant remember what exactly.

can anyone help? (also, Safe Mode isnt working, trust me, ive tried)
anyone who can give me a little help will get rep, & I may even continue to Rep Very Happy

Thanks in Advance

Get a windows CD and format it.

Burn Linux Ubuntu onto a CD, pop it in, go to the LiveCD desktop mod, open gparted. Format it.

Not much you can do besides buy a legit windows or call dell and ask them to send you one ( i doubt they will). Or switch to linux. Or try to get rid of the virus

I know HP has some reset-functionality which exists for some Dell computers as well. It says in the POST where you press to go to it.
If that doesn't work there are no other options than to format it.

all very helpful, but I know theres something I can press upon start up to show a format option, just cant remember,

the people at Dell often like to charge like 20 euro for an answer to a question like this..so wont be ringing them.

anything I can download, stick on a disk & slot it in?

(thanks for this btw, REP still up on offer)

QFT

But you'll need a working computer with a CD burner and a blank CD (I suppose your own).
