Hey guys.

So basically I feel its right for me to move on. I've been using VB.net for a while, and I feel a need for something more... "powerful".

So it comes down to C# or C++.

I know C# is based on the .Net framework, and C++ has capabilities of creating 2D & 3D games.

I am pushing on the C++ side because I am probably going to be become a programmer when I graduate from Highschool.

Anways... C# or C++ ?!!

(and whats Delpi?)

Delphi (Pascal) Is a lot like VB, but unlike VB it has a very strong 2D and 3D game background and is a lot more powerful. Things like CE's are coded in Delphi. But C++,Java,C# are the dominating languages so your probably going to want to learn one of them.

i much prefer C/C++ over C#. I personally started on C# and quickly moved to assembly and now i'm on C.

But in today's commercial world, C# is very good to learn.

Whatever you know in VB, you know in C#, it's practically the same except for some small differences (for the most part) and syntax. Past VB6, they are both on the .NET framework.

Learn some C/C++, IMO.

However, VB / C# without a doubt will be very useful to know if you want to actually land a job... unless it's game programming or something you want to go into.

C# can make games too. =P

Anyways, yeah, I'm gonna have to suggest you go to C/++, but don't let your .NET get rusty, because it's bound to prove useful if you want a job in this industry.

Learn C++, from there you can try Satan's very own programming language, Java. It will help you in the gaming industry pretty well and Java is sort of a basis to C#

For those here that know these languages pretty well, do you guys have jobs/had a job/going to get a job in this field? Because It seems some of you really know a lot about these languages already.

My dad does web development with C#/VB.NET/ASP etc as well as DB development (only SQL).

I suggest C++ and Assembly. Although if you want you can learn Ct, the new language made by Intel. It's basically C++ with a little less than 5% differences. But the compilers choose which parts of your program should be run on which processor (it's to take advantage of Intel's Duo Core and Quad Core), as opposed to you manually multi-threading it.
