I fucked up my friends xp theme by testing windows blind..

now the problem is the xp theme won't show up and even if we load
the xp theme the rundll32.exe just crashes...

System Restore, or use windowsblinds to re-add the xp theme.

and does system restore delete your installed files?
never done it before

dl new windowsblinds or use xp in windowsblinds

System restore will not un-install downloaded and installed files. It's like a super-max "ctrl-z" Just undo what you did, like moving files around or clicking buttons or messing with the GUI.

Re-starting doesn't do anything. That's just turning it off and on and nothing changes.

Turn on your system restore then. And you have to have restore points. The system automatically makes points whenever you do an important download. Even if it was off, I think there is always a first restore from the beginning of when you first opened your computer. If not, the last resort is to re-format if you can't do my windowblinds suggestion.
