so i got a vista laptop and a friend of mine told me that i can conect a hard drive from an xp computer to mine and run the xp on the laptop
so im asking is this true? also i do have a hard drive from a compter with xp sp 1 buts it was a desktop think itl work? i just dont wana screw up my laptop

You can't use a Desktop Hard Drive in a laptop. If you get a laptop HD with XP on it, you may be able to switch them and boot to XP, may be some problems though.

Example of problem: The correct drivers wouldn't be on the hard drive.

Ya you would have to find the drivers for the XP HD first.
Other than that though, if its a laptop HD, it should then work.

No, you would have to find the drivers for the computer's hardware to install on the harddrive.

... Ok, so I badly worded that.
But for the tower HD being put into a laptop, not enough space, but I've seen a SATA cable extension that you can use to plug into the laptop and that HD, and then you'd need a power source for that HD because the laptop can't power it.
