Just...go to your motherboard's manufacturer site and look for latest BIOS updates. They will have an installer, you install, reboot, have fun.

yeah, manufacturer's site is always the best, cause they'll have all the official update installers, or at least links to them.

1. The bio update comes with a unknown application, in other words it can't be executable.
2. The site is unlinkable. You will have to goto asus.com and write in my motherboards name: "A7V8X"
3. They want me to use the flash tool along with the update.

Don't fuck around with a BIOS flash, follow the exact directions they give you, the last thing you want to do is hose your board.

If you're not having problems as is, don't bother flashing.

1. Put in floppy, right click, format like it says
2. Drop files on floppy
3. Boot to it, follow instructions, win.

I have to, the current version doesn't support 8x agp, or in otherwords... It doesn't recognize me turning on 8x agp via catalyst(radeon 9550) but it is 8x agp in bios.

Your 9550 will run just fine on 4x AGP, I wouldn't bother with a BIOS update. You CAN recover a video card after a bad flash, I've done it to about 10 cards, all successfully but it's a bitch to do.

If you decide to do it anyway and it messes up, you can pop in a PCI video card and post with that, then do the BIOS flash again.

You will need a floppy either way, you can do it with a CD but it's more trouble than it's worth to make a disc.

Floppy disc is the easiest way, I've done it before and it works 100%, just make sure you read the directions for any special procedures, you never know...
