Please insert a clean, unformatted disk into A:\ drive and boot the system into DOS mode. In DOS mode, please type in C:\> FORMAT A: /S or click on“My Computer”icon under Windows O/S, right click on drive A:\ and choose“Format”. By using the procedure above, you can create a boot disk without AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files.

It wants you to reformat your computer, I think you acidently pressed something and now it think you are trying to but the message pops up because you haven't done it yet, seems very weird.

I recently updated my bios menu, try doing this....

1. Open your PC up.
2. Look at the mother board.
3. On a piece of paper write down the number, model # and the name of the brand which has on it (it will be on the green, not what the sticker says if you have one).
4. Go to your brand company on the net (eg. Intel).
5. Search "mother board <model # goes in here>".
6. Hopefully a search comes up and just look to see if it says bios menu in any of the driver downloads.

Then after installed run it and than restart and press F2 to go into the setup.

Hopefully that worked.

I have the bios for my "A7V8X" But it isn executable. Appearently i have to "flash" using a diskett or a CD, im trying to figure it out how to make a bootable CD. So i can just restart my computer having my CD run first and install it from there.

Sounds good to me.

But yeah, I do not know "how to boot from CD" straight away, but enter your bios menu first and look through the options, boot from CD will be one of them, or at least it was when I installed Windows XP on my computer and stuff like that, it should be there.

Look it up in your motherboard's brand's page or look it up in a more specific forum, you might be able to get answers...

He can get updates here, if he posts his motherboard manufacturer and model number.
Use CPU-Z (Stickies, first one) to get that information.

It doesn't want you to reformat your damn computer, it wants you to format the floppy.

My computer -> Right click the floppy -> format the floppy -> put shit on it, when computer is starting, go to the boot menu (or set the order in the BIOS) and pick your floppy drive -> Follow whatever it says and it will flash your BIOS.

Make sure you have the right version and everything, the last thing you want is a brick of a motherboard.

Some manufacturers also have a tool that will flash from Windows. I hear this isn't as safe, but I've done it a shitload of times with no problems.

edit: I lied, can't link to what I wanted. I just searched A7V8X for model and got everything.

Learn how to solder and contact your manufacturer and wait for them to send you a new BIOS chip in a plastic ziplock bag, or maybe pay for them to do it.

I am about to install with AWDFLASH.exe and A7V8X Beta BIOS 1015.003
Latest beta BIOS. Both files can be found in the dowload page after searching "A7V8X" > BIOS.

What i've done so far is, found a disk. Reformated it into ms-dos start up disk.

My currently problem is that im getting a I/O error when i try to boot up with the disk T_T

*EDIT*
Wait, am i supposed to just copy+paste the bios+AWDFLASH into the disk? because this part makes no sense.

Quote:
2Then, place the bundled M/B support CD into the optical drive. Copy AWDFLASH.EXE (unzipped) onto your boot disk. Otherwise, please refer to ASUS Download Site for latest version of AWDFLASH.EXE BIOS tool utility , please remember to decompress the file before copy it onto the boot disk. ASUS Download Site is located at http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Quote:

1. Use the floppy disk prepared previously.

2. 1After entering DOS prompt via boot disk, please copy AWDFLASH.EXE (unzipped) utility and the BIOS file into the hard disk to execute in order to increase the performance of the system. For example, please type in

"COPY A:\AWDFLASH.EXE C:\"; and "COPY A:\BIOSfilename.BIN C:\ "

1. Wait, which DOS prompt? :S
2. What bundle of shit? Do they mean the bios i downloaded?
