I was on wikipedia and found the information about the 2038 Epoch number, and how the 32-bit OS's will basically freak out on Jan 19, 2038. So I decided to see what would happen if I set my clock to 11:59:45pm on Jan. 18, 2038. Now I was re-reading the article and just now saw that it has to be 3:14:07 UTC for the wrap around to happen, but that's beside the point. But after I did the time change AVG 7.5 (the bought version) gave me this error:

Now if you don't like big images here's the error box dialog:
(I used paint to crop the image, so pardon the crappyness of the letters on that image.)
But I thought that was the best error dialog window that I have ever received on XP.
(I also think I found my new signature...)

Is this to show it off..or are you wanting to fix it? You could try a System Restore to fix it, if you need to.
Btw, your avatar may be too wide.

'Kay, I can make it not as wide, but its just to show it.
I've already fixed it, but I thought that it was a very amusing error.

No, its not expired. It lasts until 2010.
It has to deal with the program trying to deal with the huge date jump I think, and how it updates itself.
I had re-set my date before I posted this, and it works just fine now.
And apparently it was just the firewall that had screwed up... No clue how the hell it was only that.

Code: | n May 2006, reports surfaced of an early Y2038 problem in the AOLserver software. The software would specify that a database request should "never" time out by specifying a timeout date one billion seconds in the future. One billion seconds (just over 31 years 251 days and 12 hours) after 21:27:28 on 12 May 2006 is beyond the 2038 cutoff date, so after this date, the timeout calculation overflowed and calculated a timeout date that was actually in the past, causing the software to crash. |
LOL!
