My lease on my anti virus has only a few days left. I was wondering if anyone knew any good, safe and free anti viruses i can install until i get my parents to buy one. Please? I still have windows defender installed but that doesnt protect against internet files, which i really need as i download and test a lot of trainers.

Not Good Ross, I'd go for AVG, pretty good and free.

AVG is a very good free anti-virus.
Though I hear avast! is decent as well.
Norton sucks enormously. It takes up too much CPU while running in the BG, it has a slow scan time, and it is a pain in the ass to remove.

All the mentioned shit sucks total dick.
Best antivirus: Be smart. It is very easy to manage your computer. Just be smart about it.

Unless you are stupid... or paranoid.
In the latter case, get NOD32 or Retail BitDefender.

Go google.

The new version (2008) is pretty good, aside from malware authors targetting it due to it's popularity.

The newer version isn't as much of a resource hog, v2006 was unbearable. I'm not using any anti-virus as of now though.

Oh really?
Thats good news.
I used to use Norton back in 2006. Man... It was sooooo bad...
1/2 my ram would be used up, without any active programs.

Yeah, they completely re-did their source in v2007. Most people are still bitching and moaning about Norton's version from 2/3 years ago.

To tell you the truth... Most anti-virus protections that you download and don't buy... have virusus, and Key loggs themselves so they don't protect you they are actually the ones giving it to you... i suggest you don't use your comp when it runs out.. use one at a library, friends house, book store... so then you don't have to worry if you get a virus! Very Happy
