Ever since I bought this Alienware, it's been nothing but a pain to me. I've not just had hardware problems, but also OS problems, but lets put that to side.
This laptop has been giving me electrical shocks, and they're not just the static electricity kind - no joke. The screen flickers from time to time, also a very annoying issue. The very first time, it even had red lines all over it. The fan is rather noisy, meaning I can't really leave it on overnight w/o me waking up when the fan speed gets boosted up even slightly. A shitload of functions don't work, Alienware INC just "forgot" to tell me they only work on either Vista or Windows Media edition, which I both don't have.. faggots. I'm not happy with the battery consumption. The max I can use this laptop for without having it hooked up to a power outlet, is about 50 minutes, which is PATHETIC. The keyboard layout is wrong, I wanted it US style instead of UK. DVD/CD playing is madness, it takes hours to recognize the damn media and the noise, omagosh.. Oh and, did I mention it weighs 3.4 kilograms (=119.931471 ounces).
So... I've decided to try and sell this laptop, only if I get a reasonable price for it, since I realised I'm just a spoiled brat always looking for perfection. So here's my question; how much is this laptop worth?
It is in PERFECT condition, no scratches nothing. About 3~4 months old, XP Pro pre-installed (no other software as I want to put that on my 'new' laptop I'll get instead of this one), nothing broken at all.

7900GS because it has a 7900GS.
No, not green, blue.
So here's my question; how much is this laptop worth?

I'd give it a good 500+ USD for sure. Any damages to the outside?

Well with those problems you mentioned, I'd like nothing to do with it =O
But if it had no problems, was 3-4 months old, same kind of laptop as that, I'd see it as being around 1k-ish.

Electrical shocks, a flickering screen, and incompatible operating systems seem like some pretty hard issues.
with the shocks, something is touching something it shouldn't be, discharging its electricity into the case, possibly the motherboard not properly mounted. Although if it was the motherboard, I'd be surprised since it should've shorted out by now.
The flickering screen... seems like the screen was defective from the get-go.
incompatible OSs, just shows Alienware is absolute shit.

I'd have to say a capacitor fucked up, and the screen fucked up from the shocks.
As for the OS..I dunno.

I'd say the transformer or related circuitry to step up the voltage for the backlighting on the LCD is fucked up, that would explain both the shocks and the flicker. I've been shocked from directly touching the terminals on said transformer, not fun
