You want to have Full Control Of Vista?
Theres a way.
You want more performance in your Games?
Theres DirectX 10.
What do you want more?
Compability?
You can get it.
Here, I created A Guide.
1 - Full Control on Vista (Change Protected Files, No Confirmation)
1 - Tick View Hidden Files
2 - Go to C:\Windows\System32\Licensing\pkeyconfig"
3 - Right Click on "pkeyconfig.xrm-ms"
4 - Click on "Take OwnerShip"
2 - Performances in Games.
1 - Type RUN : DxDiag
2 - Check your DirectX Version.
3 - If it is DirectX 10, you should have maximum performances.
3 - Compability (Windows XP Programs)
1 - Right Click on your Executable
2 - Go in Compability Tab
3 - Just check "Run for Windows XP"
OMG!!
VIsta SP1 RC RELEASED TO PUBLIC!!!
Much Faster and More Stability!!
DirectX 10.1!!

I'm still sticking with XP because Vista has a couple things like the sidebar and other little features that annoy me and slow down my computer. I could turn some of them off but I'm too lazy to. But I will be switching to vista if the SP1 for it is any good.

DX10 should be much, much faster than DX9.
Drivers, hardware, devs thinking DX10 = ram as many expensive subtle effects in as possible, who knows? It's off to a rough start, thats for sure.

I'd say XP. Vista isn't going to be globally introduced for a long time. Since there are many things that currently rely on XP, of course time shall tell. If you want to play around with your desktop and stare at nice visual effects then I suggest you get Vista. If you just want to get things done, get XP. I "deleted" my Vista and got XP back.

One of the most annoying thing on Vista, is that you can't drag drop a file path into the command prompt window any more. That really sucks! M$ says "it's a security feature...," FUCK OFF with security I want convenience and freedom not restriction in the name of security
