XP only. No reason for Vista obviously, and there's no reason for the average user to run Linux unless they have a specific need for it. If you wanna just dick around with it then install it in VMware.

Agreed, it's annoying to have to keep track of programs/files and such on 2 OSes, and annoying to have to wait to switch between them. If XP works for you, just stick with it.

You're just wasting hard drive space by partioning for another OS. XP is the best out there atm.

Lol, I often do crazy experiments with my computer, like installing Linux for no reason. Accidentally, I overwrote all of my other files instead of it going on another hard drive for a dual boot. Whoops ^_^.
It's not worth fucking up on. Like Cheetah said, just install VMWare and fuck around with Linux there. It's not worth screwing your already good XP over with.

Gusty Gibbon isn't ready yet. Do not use it go back to using feisty fawn if you want Ubuntu.
Honestly any needs for Linux are just servers/m$ haters
I know plenty of other people who use Linux for other reasons but those are lets say the two most common lol
Anyways don't dual boot what are you going to even use it for

i was just planning on experimenting with it, as it would be my first dual boot. i have already done it multiple times on vmware.. and i actually liked Ubuntu, i booted from the ubuntu cd and played around with that also. i think i would just use it to surf the net, since Linux is not really vulnerable to viruses and in my opinion is a very stable/ fast system. and i dont think i would be wasting hd space really. cause i would only let it use a little more than its needed for installation.
