well, the thing with the ram sticks is that some are the wrong type for your computer.

this has happened to me in the past when i tried putting brand new ram sticks into my old 2002 compaq presario. not a good idea

i suggest figuring out what ram sticks will work for your computer by going to the local geek squad. thats wat i had to do.

http://www.memtest.org/

I'm betting on a bad stick. Run this for a few hours AT LEAST, overnight is preferred.

However, if you even get so much as one error, there is your problem. Test one at a time then.

depending on which one you get, you put it on a floppy or burn the .iso to a disc.

Wrong stick for the pc,
Well if your talking about being wrong as in type like sdram/ddr
You not going to interchange those sticks they wont plug into the same slots.
They are different sticks.

Now some mother boards only take matched pairs of ram, also wont take over a certain size of ram period.
So my guess would be they are not a matched pair or, the pc spec will not handle 2 gig of ram.

Try putting 1 of the 1 gig ram in and one of the 512's in and see if she runs.
If so, then you could be having a bad stick of ram or the pc cannot take any more then 1512.
