8600GTS FTW! Mine's overclocked, beats the 8800GT.

Doubtful, no achievable overclock will make up for the fact it only has 1/3 the stream processors, less than half the memory bandwidth, etc etc.

The NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT just came out, and it's a LOT better than the 8600GTS. The 8800GT has more "Pipes", if you will, than the 8600. I think the equation is pipes times clock speed to get another performance thing which determines the real power of the card. I think the 8800GT has some 112 pipes but the 8600GT has like 32 or 54, I forgot. So yeah, the 8800GT also has better visuals and performance than a 8600GTS for not even double the price.
The 8600 can support 8xMSAA and 4x Anisotropic. DX10 support, high dynamic range, all those sexy shader and texture settings.
8800 can support 16xQ MSAA anti-aliasing, 16x Anisotropic texture filtering, DX10, high dynamic range, those sexy shader and texture settings with absolute full DX10 support.
However, if your price range is somewhere between 600-1000, then wait for the 9800 to come out and then you'll really be the one kicking ass.
Hope that helped.
