Ram isnt the answer to a slow computer you dumbass. That is only an issue when the CPU is slow or the GPU bottlenecking it. |

You need to tell us what you're doing with it... gaming machine? workstation? a/v work? multitasking?
In any case, two things I would recommend are the Q6600 and the 8800gt, both exceptional performance for the price. |

yeah if you know jack shit about what you need to make a computer then you're not gonna be able to make one yourself, so go and buy one that's already made but still right for you. you can also use DELL which lets you make computers yourself but a little more simple, even though i never used it.
also don't use norton it is the shittest piece of crap software in the world. get something good like CA or eset nod32 or kaspersky, anything besides Norton i hate it! _________________

Norton is the worst anti-virus/protection ever.
Baby is to Condom as Viruses is to Norton.
I recommend Nod32 |

yep nod32 is the best. i got it a couple days ago and set it up yesterday. it runs so fast and doesn't slow down your computer like some crappy anti viruses. _________________

Well, if you don't even know what parts to buy, I don't think you should be making a computer.. :O
Unless, you are asking for recommendations... Then that is different.. |

he doesn't know what functions each part does, according to his first post, so he should just buy a premade computer, or at least research first so he has a good idea of what he needs to make a kind of computer that he wants.
first of all you need to tell us what you're going to use the computer for; high performance gaming, internet use, word processing, etc. _________________

well research computer parts on google or something and then find the right size/type/brand that you want for your certain type of computer. once you've researched what you need then you can put it all together and make a computer.
all you have to do basically is to search "computer parts" or something if you don't know what you need, then what you have to do is to search a certain part, for example ram, and then get the right size for your type of computer. if you use an online site like DELL it tells you what you need and you just pick what type of part you want from the drop down menus. _________________

Google can help with that, If your looking for gaming machines search that.
Like the guys are saying building one yourself is not an option, since you dont know what or how each part works, goes together, then formating and installing the machine, configuring the voltage to the cpu. Most now have a default for it, But other steps are used also.
Now the money situation. You can buy all the stuff you need to build a pc. These days it would cost you more then buying a pre built system.
Sure there are some disadvantages of this, You get everything you want in it, except for 1 thing because it is not available for the model.
The build it yourself site, you will have to look into the parts they have for options on the machine and make decisions where to pay the $ and where to cut back.
Here is a list you can start looking at.
