Actually, it's not encrypted at all. The password's randomly generated.

Most people still crack a CrackMe by patching it. Serial / Password fishing isn't the only way to crack something.

They aren't cracking it. Because to actually crack a crackme. You must actually find the password. If they are just patching it, they never really found the password, therefore never really cracking the program.

But really, you can still crack this. Idiot.
You just have to edit the ASCII of the text you entered breakpointed to the needed password. And because the password isn't generated when you click Enter, there's other ways to get the real password and enter it.
And obviously you can patch it.

While you normally can crack crackmes my patching to find the solution... You looking to find a solution to the problem not just a patch.
So just patching to let it not generate a random serial would seem a little silly to me. Though - I didn't make this crackme

Well, he was wrong, you can still get the real password. But it just won't work everytime you open up the crackme, and to me, a Crackme and a Patchme is the same thing.

It is nice to be able to reproduce something though. Getting a password is nice, though if it never works again, or for no one else. The only way to make a good working solution is to patch it...
If you wanted to crack a game - and you needed a serial, but the serial is different on every computer, every run... You'd patch it - not try to get a serial. Otherwise, no one would care you go the "right" solution for that one execution on that computer...
