Yes.
| Quote: | | its not considered high lvl if its close to human language, its the difficulty of the language and what u can do with it |
Wrong.
| Quote: | | it is not a high lvl language, I bet u dont even know it... |
True, I don't know Visual Basic, and I will never try to learn it.
| Quote: | | i wouldnt consider ASM low lvl, VB is NOT better than ASM |
Assembly is a low level language, who said VB is better then ASM?
| Quote: | | ur a complete idiot |
No you are. |
LOL u trust that kind of sources
then why would u state VB is a high lvl programming lang.
Delphi/c++/c r high lvl, VB isnt...
its pointless to argue...
and for u, im a VB programmer i think i know whats right....

Use other sources, they will tell you the same thing.
It's not pointless because you are wrong!
Assembly is a low level languages VB is not!

That guy can't accept the fact that he's wrong. Here from another source (www.answer.com)
| Quote: | | high-level language:A machine-independent programming language, such as FORTRAN, COBOL, BASIC, Pascal and C/C++. It lets the programmer concentrate on the logic of the problem to be solved rather than the intricacies of the machine architecture such as is required with low-level assembly languages. |

No, no it's not. Opinion doesn't = fact.
ASM is as low level as you can get.
VB is high level.

heehee yes it is easy to learn,, thats what a high level language is for,
a low level language is harder to program in...... thats why its called a low level language, it works at a lower nuts and bolts level,
now how about letting the poor sod who asked for VB help get on with learning his chosen language

Theres always a downside to "easy to learn": "hard to get advanced".
Although you can msgbox "Hello World!111", you can't "simply include APIs you want to use like people do in C or C++ whatever else".
Well, since I'm one of those guys using GVBasic since 11, its unfortunate for me to say that editing memory with VB is not fun at all.
And to back it up, yes, VB(6) is a high level language. Take computing in school (if you even go to one) and that's what they teach...
The lowest level of programming is, do not forget about hard chip wiring, the way we arrange the NOR gates and whatever gates give different outcomes... but of course books don't say that. The lowest level for x86 programming is ASM.
o also note that you cannot trigger a PopupMenu in a form opened by using Modal PopupMenu from the parent form in VB6 unless you do some cheesy workarounds.

my last words for this thread:
Do not learn VB, ur just digging a grave for urself...
if u cant master VB its useless, learn some other lang instead
Delphi is great, im learning it now... has much more things than VB
yes, it was my first lang, but for some people the transfer from VB to eg. Delphi is impossible, but for me it was easy
BUT its ur own choice
lol if u go to the VB programming forum and say VB sucks, they will agree with u ^^

as i said i learnt it too and i do not regret it, the transfer from vb to delphi was easy for me, since some things are pretty much the same/similar

what was that about last words
| skyllakarean wrote: | | my last words for this thread: Do not learn VB, ur just digging a grave for urself... |
C/C++ and all the other versions of C, delphi bla bla are better in the end for advanced stuff and give solid groundwork for learning asm, but the guy asked for VB help maybe because he and others have to learn it at skoool and he wants a head start,
there is nothing to stop him learning another language later, though he is probably depressed about VB after all this and will watch cartoons instead
